NY Post : President Trump on Friday said the announcement about his decision on the fate of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program is imminent.

“We’ll issue it sometime over the weekend; sometime today or over the weekend, we’ll have a decision. We’ll issue it sometime over the weekend, maybe this afternoon,” he told reporters from the Oval Office.

Asked if the nearly 800,000 “Dreamers” protected by the program should be worried, he cryptically replied, “We love the Dreamers. We love everybody…. We think the Dreamers are terrific.”

Fox News reported on Thursday that Trump planned to kill the plan, in which people who were brought to the US as children are allowed to stay if they meet a number of stringent requirements.

The White House insisted that no decision had been made, but factions in the West Wing, led by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, an immigration hardliner, are pushing the president to shut it down, arguing that it’s unconstitutional

Also Friday, House Speaker Paul Ryan prodded Trump to not kill off the popular program — a move that could lead to mass deportations of long-settled immigrants from the US.

“I actually don’t think he should do that. I believe that this is something that Congress has to fix,” Ryan told radio station WCLO in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin.

Ryan agrees that DACA is illegal — but said Congress is the best place to address the issue, not the executive branch.

“President Obama did not have the legislative authority to do what he did. You can’t, as an executive, write law out of thin air, and so that’s very, very clear and we’ve made that very clear,” Ryan said.

“Having said all of that, there are people who are in limbo. These are kids who know no other country, who were brought here by their parents and don’t know another home.”

His statement was the strongest yet among Republicans — and just the latest example of an administration official or a GOP lawmaker to buck the president.

Hundreds of CEOs and US business leaders also signed a letter urging P Trump not to scrap the program, fearing they would lose valuable employees.
